Tell me about yourself

I’m a six-year United States Marine Corps veteran. In 2004 I created Optimum Boot Camp the first outdoor fitness program in Southern California. Back then I also trained pre-Boot Camp recruits with emphasis on muscle strength development and cardiovascular endurance. My experience and education in the health and fitness industry got me recognized as one of the best trainers in Southern California. I attended Oregon State University, as an Exercise Physiology major, and also became certified with the American Council on Exercise, Progressive Fitness accredited training programs, Future Fit, Sports Telesis, as a Nutrition Technician, and Muscle Lab 1 resistance training. I have actively competed in Martial Arts, Baseball, Football, Track and Field, Swimming, Cycling, Mountain Biking, Skiing, Snow Boarding, and Gymnastics. I offer a practical knowledge of the athlete and outdoors person, coupled with laboratory and scientific research findings when designing an effective program to benefit everyone regardless of age, general, level of fitness, weight or personal busy schedule. Most people naturally assume that I came from a more privileged background and was given some easy breaks. On the contrary, I was raised by a poor family and given very little except for the ideals that nothing is for free and hard work is the only path to get what you truly desire. I have always and continue to apply that same theme to my business, my training style and my overall approach to life. I lost my dad about 10 years ago and my mom last year. My mom was and will always be my rock. For me it was a very hard life. Growing up with a single mom raising us kids in the most unimaginable conditions was tough. But I don’t really think about having had a hard life. It was just my life, and it’s all I knew. It made me who I am – all the good and bad – and it’s where all the life experiences, knowledge and strength of it all got me to where I am today. I’ve lived them all. Although it’s short of a miracle where I am today just growing up and going through life and how tough life was for me and my family, I’m always going to stay humble. I am living proof that all things are possible no matter what story your past tells you. Stay true to yourself, yet always be open to learn. Work hard, and never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true but you. These are not crutches but real tools you need no matter what you do in life to stay focused on your path. If I did it with so many odds stacked up against me, so can anyone.

Style is what for you

Style, to me, is an extension of one’s personality, a kind of self expression which is very personal. It is an expression of your moods, your personality.

How you keep your life balance?

for me being in the best mental and physical state gives me the fortitude to embrace every ounce of it. I know I have to take care of myself in order to live life the way I want to. It’s important to have rest days. But in the long run, if I don’t work out for, like, three days, I feel worse, not better. So for now I just do what works for me and train as often as I like. A healthy life balance is the fortitude to be able to work, and train hard so that you can have the pleasure of playing hard. I just live life. I enjoy life. I have nothing left to hide. I am kind of a free person, a free soul. I embrace where I am and not so much where I’m from. I Take in life and all that it offers and I do that through Meditation for my mental strength, and workouts for my physical strength and balance.

How you keep your body fit?

I keep to a pretty healthy meal plan during the week and allow myself at least one cheat day. And I workout at my studio at least 5 to 6 days a week. Working out is all mental for me. I workout because of the mental therapeutic gains. The physical gains are the bi-product.

Do you use grooming products?

The only grooming products I use are my electric clippers

Tell me about your diet plan

I do intermittent fasting. My first meal of the day is at 12 noon and my last meal is at 8pm. From 12 noon till 8pm I eat every 2 hours. I have my custom made protein shake at noon, at 2pm I have an apple, string cheese, and some raw veggies, and a hard boiled egg, at 4pm I have a piece of fish or ground turkey with veggies, at 6pm I have another custom made shake, and at 8pm I have my own custom made soup.

Tell me about your fitness plan

I take a Circuit Works class in the morning. then I run on the beach for an hour, and then I run the Santa Monica Stairs for about 45 min to an hour.

Do you like travel? Which places you like?

I love traveling. I do a lot of it. this year I’ve been to Brazil, Panama, Peru, Denmark, Amsterdam, Finland, and London.
